Lil Wayne, Coldplay Lead Grammy Class of '09
Lil Wayne and Coldplay are at the head of the class of 2009, garnering eight and seven nominations, respectively, as the nominees for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday night (Dec. 3) by The Recording Academy. For the first time, some of the nominees were announced on a one-hour CBS prime-time special, "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night."

Radio Industry Gets Shaft On 'Music's Biggest Night'
The 51st annual Grammy award nominations were announced on Wednesday evening (Dec. 3) during a one-hour special on CBS-TV, "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! -- Countdown To Music's Biggest Night," co-hosted by nominee Taylor Swift and past winner LL Cool J. Although the event was branded as "Music's Biggest Night," at least one broadcaster watching the show felt excluded after sitting through a pre-produced opening segment that praised the Internet at the expense of radio. Regent Communications president/CEO William Stakelin (pictured) submitted an e-mail to R&R asking the Grammys to apologize to radio for the slight.

Donny Michaels, already in the house doing middays at Cox AC WFLC (97.3 The Coast)/Miami, adds on Promo Director duties. He replaces JJ Paone, who exits.

The Tom Kent Locomotive of Love has made its way to Raleigh, where Curtis Media Oldies WWMY (Y102.9) picks up Kent's show in nights and weekends. Since he'll air on both Saturday and Sunday nights, Y102.9's 8-Track Saturday Night show goes away, as Allan Brady will work with the station in other, unspecified shifts.

After a year and a half in mornings at Beasley AC KFRH (Fresh 102.7)/Las Vegas, the lovely and talented Suzanne Ansilio is leaving Las Vegas to find her fame and fortune elsewhere. Before Fresh, Ansilio co-hosted mornings at WDHA/Morristown, NJ and also did weekends/fill-in at the former Free FM/New York, but she's probably best known for her many years at KLOS/Los Angeles. Catch up to her at suzanneansilio@msn.com or 310-418-9665.
