Scholarships Available for CMA's 2009 Annual Conference Untitled Document

The NEA has made funds available to help CMA members defray travel and accommodations costs related to attending the National Conference in New York City. A limited number of scholarships will be provided to current conference registrants, as well as to those who have yet to register. (One-day attendees are not eligible.) USArtists International, a program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, now offers support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant international festivals outside the U.S. and its territories.
Deadline: Friday, January 9, 2009 for engagements from March 1, 2009 to February 28, 2010.

Parker Quartet Selected to Receive Cleveland Quartet Award Congratulations to the Parker Quartet, winner of the 2009 Cleveland Quartet Award. A biennial honor, the CQA provides career support to a rising string quartet of extraordinary promise and includes engagements with eight renowned CMA presenters.

CMA Member Wins MacArthur "Genius" Grant Congratulations to saxophonist/composer Miguel Zenon, who has been named a 2008 MacArthur Fellow. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation awards these fellowships to "talented individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction."

CMA Members Sweep Concert Artists Guild Competition Congratulations to flutist Clare Chase (founder of ICE, the International Contemporary Ensemble) and to the Afiara String Quartet. As this year's winners of the annual Concert Artists Guild Competition, Chase and the Afiara will join the CAG artist roster and receive two-year management contracts.
